Scottish Barley Bale

Barley straw should be applied twice each year, preferably early spring, before the growing season begins and in the autumn. As new bales of barley are added it is a good idea to leave the old bale in place for an additional month or so to allow the start-up of the new straw. Barley straw inhibits the growth of algae through the release of enzymes produced during the decomposition of the straw. Comes with mesh bag. Place in a location with high flow rate and high O2 levels for best results.
